Happy 2nd Bday Eli and Happy Halloween

By Mike at November 10, 2011 - 22:09

I'm just a little behind on the blogging. Eli went from being my little baby boy to my big baby boy when he turned two on Oct 4th. He was super excited about his Mickey cake and his new skill of holding up two fingers when I ask him how old he is. It took him a while to master the two finger hold up, so he made me mold his fingers for a few days before he finally got the hang of it. Below are some pics of the birthday boy.

He was super pumped about the trains he got for his birthday and has almost played with them every day since.

Gingy and Granddad bought him some tickets to go see Thomas the train. He loved the Thomas train ride, but was totally creeped out by Sir Topham Hat. I can't really blame him...

We also went out to Chester's Party Barn where Eli had a great time holding the goat feed just out of reach.

We almost lost them when they ran off in the maze.

The rest of October just kind of went by in a blur. We made it down to Wilburton on one of the weekends to watch Aunt Regi be a homecoming queen attendant and the drum major. Beau and Eli actually had a great time at the game.

Eli helped PaPa call the game.

I have never seen two football players more excited about being in a coronation than these guys...

I tried talking her into marching onto the field like the OU drum major's do, but she didn't go for it.

Sometimes you have to just wrap your kids up really tight in a blanket and set them in front of the tv. It's like swaddling...

Halloween did not go quite as planned this year. I ended up with a gnarly stomach bug on Halloween evening, so Charlene had to take the boys out solo while I stayed home and drove the porcelain bus. The boys had a good time and filled up their buckets with some delicious looking candy. We stole an idea from our neighbor and had the great pumpkin make a visit to our house that night. The great pumpkin takes all the candy, except for a few pieces that you put to the side, and leaves a cool prize in it's place. The boys were a little nervous about the idea of giving up all their candy, but they were glad to have a present instead. The "great pumpkin" then ate too much candy and made himself sick...

Eli was Max from the book Where the Wild Things Are. His extremely talented Mama made him this sweet costume.

Beau decided he wanted to be superman this year. This is the first time he put it on. I guess he thought spiderman liked to stand like a chicken.

After weeks of practice, his spiderman stance on Halloween was much better. Here he is shooting out some webs.

There are some more quality pics in the October 2011 album.

Summer is over.

By Mike at September 29, 2011 - 21:46

It's official... it's no longer 100+ degrees outside.  The pool has been emptied.  We can leave the windows open and turn off the A/C. Since the pool has been closed, we've been spending quality time at the playground again.  Beau and Eli always look through the fence at the emptied pool that has started to collect rain water, and ask when the pool will be open again.  They have a long wait... They'll just have to get through the winter looking at these pictures and reminiscing.

There are some more pics in the August 2011 album.

Since the pool closed down, Beau and Eli have been working on their basketball skills.  Eli is actually a pretty good dribbler.  Sometimes he tries to shoot the ball "into outer space", but unfortunately gravity wins and it smashes into his face.  I'm afraid he'll never learn.  I need to get some video of that before it's too late... Here's Beau working on his jump shot.

Eli likes to talk trash after he charges me...

There are some more action shots in the September 2011 album.   Beau started preschool a couple weeks ago.  Then Eli got jealous, so he signed himself up for mother's day out.  Here's Beau on his first day of school.  You can see the excitement in his face!

MINNESOTA!

By Mike at August 10, 2011 - 20:12

We had a nice two week vacation to northern Minnesota. The extended Bockus family goes up north every year and stays in cabins on Lake Vermillion. We had an awesome time boating, fishing, and doing damage control with all the Bockus cousins getting together. The boys just lose their mind when they get to play with their cousins Gracie, Madison, and Addie. They did their best over the two weeks we were there to fill up the lake with rocks... they didn't quite make it but I think the lake might have risen a little because of their efforts.

Here are some of my favorite photos from the trip.

A beautiful family pic thanks to Randy!

Regina doesn't really like to touch the fish... or catch it really. I'm pretty sure the perfect fishing trip for her is to catch zero fish.

Charlene executing the perfect back flip. Look at that form!

Regina's back flip didn't end so well...

Beau winks really hard.

Smore?

Gordon trying to fly off the end of the dock again. He'll never learn...

Ice Cream!

Nana just can't get enough of them grand babies.

There's really just too many great pics from that trip. You're just going to have to check out the 200+ pics in the July 2011 album. We had a great time with the fam!

Some other news... I quit my job at IBM and started working for Cox Communications here in OKC. I had been at IBM for seven years and was just ready for something new. I'll miss working from home and the perks that came with it (more time with the boys, lunch with the fam, no commute, etc), but I was in desperate need of finding a job that I look forward to going to. So far Cox has been great and I think I'll really enjoy working there. Plus they give me free cable internet and free cable tv with all the premium channels! Does a better benefit exist??! I don't think so...
