Happy Birthday Eli!

By Mike at October 5, 2010 - 22:50

Eli turned one yesterday! It blows my mind how time flies. It's crazy to see how much he's grown over the past year, even for a little guy...

We had a little party for him on Sunday. Both sets of grandparents and Maggie and her kids came over to celebrate.

Here's Mama giving the birthday boy some kisses.

Charlene made Eli this awesome hungry caterpillar cake. She also made some "goodies" for the kids which included a crayon roll and a felt play mat, but I suck and forgot to take a picture of those, so you will never get to see them in all of their awesomeness.

Eli loved him some birthday cake. First he squished it up into a mush, then he shoveled it into his mouth. He put away a good pound of cake.

"Don't we look awesome in these party hats?"

PaPa fought with the chinese packaging for his grandson...

...and was victorious!! Only took about 15m to get that toy free of it's packaging.

I like your stache Aunt Regi!

Eli is a walking machine! He took his first unassisted steps about two weeks ago. He's been practicing pretty hard so that he can have a chance at keeping up with Beau. He can go quite a distance now, so I'm guessing he'll be running sometime next week. Here's a video of him taking some steps and Beau showing him how to fall down properly.

Eli still only had two teeth for his first birthday. I feel like he's been about to pop his top four teeth for about two months now. I've decided his teeth are just square pegs that won't cut through the gums.

It's been a while since my last post, so I've added some photos to the August 2010 album which includes our trip to the Oklahoma Aquarium, some photos to September 2010 for our trip to the labor day festival, and the rest of Eli's birthday pics in the October 2010 album.

Great Wolf Lodge

By Mike at August 18, 2010 - 07:16

It's been a couple weeks since our stay at the Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, but Beau is still talking about bunk beds, water slides, water guns, buckets getting dumped on his head, and hunting for treasure. The indoor waterpark is really nice since you can swim for hours and not worry about getting sunburnt. While we were there he kept calling the lodge his "New house", so he was pretty disappointed when we had to leave. It was a ton of fun and we'll definitely be going back. We'll probably wait long enough so that Eli can have fun too next time. Eli wasn't too excited about getting water dumped on his head... maybe next year. Here's a few pics from our stay.

Eli with his sunblock in the hair look.

This was Beau's first attempt at a water slide with a curve in it. He didn't quite have the hang of it yet...

The three palest boys at the pool.

Beau was a fan of shooting strangers with his jet ski water gun.

Eli's favorite part of the trip was probably gnawing on this marker.

Beau has dibs on top bunk!

Thank goodness it's play until you win...

Gingy and her favorite grandchildren.

Thanks for taking us to the Great Wolf Lodge Gingy!

After our weekend stay at Great Wolf Lodge, I separated from the fam and went down to Austin for a week to attend a conference at work. It was rough being away for an entire week, but I got to meet my new niece Madison! She's a cutie and her big sister Gracie is a good little helper. Here are some pics of the latest Bockus...

I think she's trying to pucker up for the kiss.

The light. It's so beeaaautiful....

I had fun with my nieces, but I was glad to get back home. Beau is still recovering from my week away. He's pretty sure I'm going to leave for a whole week every time I go to work, so he demands a million "Hug and Kiss!" every time I leave. I eventually just have to cut him off.

We took Eli to a GI doctor in OKC yesterday. He's been constantly shrinking on the growth chart since birth and no doctor is really sure why. He's done quite a bit of lab work but nothing turns up. I think he would just rather play than eat. Why eat when you could spend all your time headbutting your bro? The GI didn't really know either, so we're going to go back for some xrays and follow up visits after a month on pediasure. He seems to like the pediasure pretty good so far, so hopefully he'll pack on some pounds. Here he is trying to knock out Granddad with a headbutt.

There's a few more pics in the August 2010 album. I'll keep ya posted on the Eli situation. I'm optimistic that he'll start packing on the weight.

Rock On

By Mike at August 3, 2010 - 21:20

Man this year is flying by.  Eli is about to turn ten months old tomorrow!  He thinks he's already two years old like his bro.  Him and Beau are starting to act like brothers now...  They torture each other pretty much all day long.  Beau always wants the toy that Eli happens to have, and Eli will crawl across the room to head butt Beau in the shins.  It's fun times...

Eli was showing off his dance moves, so I had to bust out the video camera.  He definitely takes after his daddy with these sweet moves...

Beau had a good time setting off fireworks this year.  For some reason he started off afraid of snap pops, but he wasn't near as scared setting off shells, smoke bombs, and roman candles.  I even let him hold a roman candle.  I don't think his Mama approved.

We found some sweet hats in our garage.

Elmo Live will haunt Eli's dreams...

Eli has been crawling like a mad man and pulling up to stand.  I think he's going to start trying to walk here pretty soon.  He just doesn't understand why he can't run around like his bro.  I think he's checkin out his badunkadunk butt in this pic.

Beau's turtle dominated the turtle race at the family reunion.  All that training really paid off... He was still too afraid to hold it.

I just think this picture is hilarious.  I like to imagine that he's screaming a high note or something...

There are some more pics in the July 2010 album if you would like to take a gander. I'll post an update soon with the pics from our trip to Great Wolf Lodge.  That place was pretty sweet and Beau had an awesome time.  Eli was not near as impressed, but give him a couple years and I'm sure he'll be all about it.
