Can't wait to be house poor!

By Mike at June 13, 2010 - 20:27

It's done.  We signed on the dotted line.  We signed a contract with Beacon Fine Homes to build us a house in The Grove in OKC!  It looks like we'll be moving sometime around Feb 2011.  I'm really excited about the location, floorplan, amenities, etc that we get to look forward to now.  We're planning on being there a looong time, so I better be excited...

It's been a crazy month in the Bockus household since my last post.  Beau has become a potty using machine.  We decided that the approach we were going to take to potty training was just to take away the diapers one day.  He's been doing really great since day one, and we haven't had an accident in a week!  We're using stickers for a reward, and for each five stickers he gets to pick something sweet out of a prize bucket.  We also told him that if he peed on his Sesame Street underwear, then the monster on there would be sad.  It was hilarious for the first few days, because he would pee a little bit in his underwear before running to the potty, and then he would come up to us and say "Elmo is sad...".  I've just been blown away by how well he is doing.  The only time we don't use underwear now is at night, but for the past few days he's been waking up dry and using the potty.  I hope his success continues.  I'm so proud!

Nothing like a nice cold orange soda while you're using the potty by the picnic table.

PaPa celebrated the big 6-0 birthday on May 29th.  We had a little surprise birthday party for him in OKC with the rest of the Bockus clan.  It was good times... Happy Birthday PaPa!

We made a trip over to the Italian Festival in Mcalester a few weeks ago.  Beau enjoyed the kid rides and I almost got stuck in the train, so that was pretty rad...

I think Beau enjoyed the mega slide most of all...

Charlene's half sister Regina came down for a visit, so Beau and Eli got to meet their cousin Sean.  Sean is actually a month younger than Eli, but you wouldn't have guessed from the pictures.  That boy is HUGE!

Eli and Sean having a face off...

I think Eli will be crawling any day now.  Currently he just kind rolls around and bounces on his stomach to try and get to where he's going.  It's horribly inefficient, but he's really motivated to get moving so he can keep up with his big bro!  He also popped his first two teeth.  He was one cranky sucka waiting for those bad boys to pop through.  Two down... eighteen to go.  Eli playing peekaboo might be the cutest thing ever...

We attempted to take some family photos using Aunt Regina as our photographer, but we made the mistake of going out midday. It was about 95 and we were all miserable after the first five minutes. We did get a few good shots though. Thanks for sweatin it out with us Aunt Regi!

There are some more pics in the May 2010 and June 2010 albums.

The Big Move

By Mike at May 7, 2010 - 22:25

So Long Manor

We did it.  We packed up and moved to Oklahoma.  We moved away from some great family and friends, but we just had to get closer to Beau and Eli's grandparents.  Manor did give me a sweet going away present.  Our house lived at the end of the street that the wind always blew towards, so our yard always ended up with a bunch of trash in it after a windy day.  Well, the day we were packing up I found this sweet gem in the yard.

That's right.  A bikini car wash to raise money for a guys headstone.  I'm not sure my friends would do the same for me if I was to die... Rob must have been loved.  RIP Rob.

We're currently living in the great city of Wilburton while we build our next house in the north OKC area. It's great having the Grandparents and Aunt Regina so close.  We took advantage of our new free babysitters a couple weeks ago and took a trip up to a community that we're looking at to build in.  It's called "The Grove" and has some sweet amenities for kids. I'm excited to build, but after that hellacious move I wouldn't mind if we got to stay in Wilburton for a year.  I at least would like my back to not hurt anymore by the time we have to move again.

Eli's growing like a weed!

I can't believe how fast Eli is growing.  He's turning into a little chunk!  We started him on the baby food after his sixth month birthday, which he loves...

He's also been sitting up pretty good.  We're not quite brave enough to let him sit there without pillows behind him, but he's getting close.  Here's a sweet video of him sitting up for the first time.  The ending is pretty darn hilarious...

Him and his older brother are getting pretty tight already.  Beau likes to make him laugh or try to cheer him up when he's crying by acting like he falls down on the floor and is hurt.  He's also pretty good at peekaboo.  I love my boys...

Man Trip

Man trip was a smashing success... minus the success part.  I talked my Dad into an "investment opportunity", where he supplied my gambling roll and I gave him half the winnings when the trip was over.  Well, things didn't turn out that well and I ended up losing his entire initial investment.  We had a good time though.  Went to the roided out carrot top show which was actually entertaining.  As long as Binions has this million dollar photo opportunity setup, we're going to take a picture by it each time we go.  Here's the G rated version...

... and here's the R rated version.  Okay, maybe just PG-13.

A cold front came through Oklahoma while I was gone, and Beau decided to escape to go puddle jumping.  I thought this video was super cute, but I'm guessing Charlene wasn't too amused at the time.  Taking care of two kids while your husband is losing money in vegas is a recipe for good times.  Thanks for letting me go sweetie!

Amy and Alex Wedding

My cousin Amy got married this last weekend and Beau was her cowboy ring bearer (Cowbeau for short).  We had a good time hanging out with the family all weekend and the wedding was good times.  I was afraid that Beau wouldn't go down the aisle because he's usually pretty shy, but once he got a toy gun to shoot people with he was all about it.  He just walked down the aisle shooting away...

When he got to his Mama, he just stopped in the middle of the aisle and started shooting her.  I may or may not have told him to "go shoot mommy" when it was time for him to walk down the aisle.  I thought he might need a little motivation to walk down the aisle... :-)

His cousin Gracie was the flower girl.  She got nervous about halfway down and ran back to Gordon, but Gordon did an awesome job helping spread the flowers after that.  I think Gordon should get a flower girl honorable mention...

Beau was pumped about seeing Gracie since he had been missing her since our move to Wilburton.  I made the mistake of telling him five days before the wedding that we were gonna go see Gracie, so then I got to hear him say "See Gracie NOW!" about 30 times a day for 5 days.  We just have to somehow convince them to move up here to join us...

Eli got to hang out with his cuz Addie at the rehearsal dinner.  They're only four months apart and will probably go to the same schools and be in the same grade when they grow up.  We've already been planning with Hank and Marie for them to be the best of friends.  We plopped them down in a chair at the reception and they just started holding hands!  They were immediately blinded by the flash photography...

I've uploaded a lot more pictures into the March 2010, April 2010 and Wedding albums.   Thanks to Randy for taking the great shots at the wedding!  I'll try to post blogs a little more frequent than once every three months from now on...

Why you do me like that ATT?

By Mike at April 29, 2010 - 11:17

AT&T does not want me hosting bockstock from my home. They wanted me to update to a business account so that I could host bockstock on my desktop from the house. Turns out it was cheaper just to pay for somebody else to host it, so now bockstock is live from a computer somewhere in India!! Not really... I think it's somewhere on the east coast. At least bockstock will have a 99.9% uptime now and my loyal visitors won't have to worry about when I lose power or forget to turn the computer on.
