How did we get so lucky?

By Mike at February 12, 2010 - 00:13

It's been a busy month since my last post.  We moved Eli into his own room, so we moved the computer into our room.  Since the computer is in our room, bockstock is shutdown from 10:45p.m to 8:00a.m.  We put up with the jet engine fans that the bockstock server has to run to process all my late night bockstock visitor requests, but it was just too friggin loud, so you're gonna have to remember to not wait until the middle of the night to check your favorite website...

I don't know how we got so lucky with our two wonderful babies, but Eli has decided to start sleeping through the night already.  We put him down at 7 and he sleeps until 7:30.  A well rested Eli is a happy Eli, so life has been good here lately.

He loves his sleep too, so if you make him stay up a little past his bedtime he puts on this really sad face.

Needless to say, we don't make him stay up past his bedtime if we can help it.  He's been growing so fast you would think you could actually seem him grow right before your eyes.  I think Beau is getting a little more interested in playing with Eli now that he can actually hold onto toys and "talk."  Beau likes to tickle Eli, but he also like to poke him in the eye, so we gotta stay real close just in case he goes for the eyeball. Luckily it's hard to poke somebody in the eye when you're wearing tickle me elmo hands...

It's hard to believe that this cute lil guy could be ornery already, but I'm pretty sure he splashes water all over the place at bath time on purpose.  He just covers everything within 5 feet by the time we're done with his bath.  I'll be glad when he's old enough to take a bath with his older bro so I don't have to clean up a flooded kitchen every night.  Even though he's ornery, he sure does look cute whenever he laughs and kicks his little legs as hard as he can to send that tidal wave out of his tub and onto the kitchen counter...

I'm not sure what was going on in this pic, but I like it...

Beau's had a rough few weeks.  Right now he's sick with a cold, but before that he had the hives for about a week.  We're pretty sure it was from kiwi, so please don't feed Beau any kiwi.  It'll turn him into one giant puffy hive.

The hives didn't bother him too much, but they looked pretty gnarly.  I'm sure we freaked out a few parents when we took him to play at a playground.  I'm pretty sure they left pretty fast in hopes of not getting whatever he had...  Poor guy.  I'm glad that's over with.

He recently discovered that he now has the muscles needed to unsnap his diaper.  That's unfortunate because now he spends most of his time running around naked talking about "poop in the garage."  I'm not sure why he wants to poop in the garage.  I'm pretty sure he hasn't pooped in the garage, but I wouldn't be too surprised if I found some mini poo hidden in the garage somewhere.  Here he is trying to get his shirt off and doing his best beavis impression:

He's also been working on his artwork here lately.  He's created quite a few masterpieces that are now on display at work, but he still prefers using his hands for a canvas instead of a piece of paper...

It's way past my bedtime, so if you're looking for more pictures you can check out the January 2010 and February 2010 albums.

A White Christmas and Happy Birthday Beau!

By Mike at January 6, 2010 - 22:30

We got some snow on Christmas Eve so Beau and Eli got to enjoy their first white Christmas.  Eli didn't actually make it outside due to the freezing temps, but Beau bundled up to head out to throw some snowballs, do some sledding, and make some miniature snowmen.  He was all about the snowballs and snowmen, but sledding didn't turn out that well.  He was a little worried when we got on the sled, but then he really decided to hate sledding when I crashed us into the ditch.  Then he wouldn't have anymore of it, and he was pretty concerned when anybody else got on the sled.  I bet he'll give it another shot the next time we see snow...

Here are some pics from Christmas day...

Candy canes are hard to eat.

Christmas is tiring.

What is this stuff?  It's making my feet cold...

Beau's first sled ride.

Charlene showing us how it's done.

Granddad on his way to maximum velocity.

Beau loves his PaPa

Eli had funny hair on Christmas.

Nobody can take the suspense of the jack-in-the-box.

More pics from our trip to Wilburton for Christmas in the December 2009 album.

Happy Birthday Beau!

Beau turned two on Jan. 4th.  We threw him a little party here at the house to celebrate on Saturday. He was all about blowing out the candles.  Since his mama's birthday where she got to blow out some candles, he's been talking about blowing out candles for his birthday.  I guess all that preparation for blowing out the candles paid off because he took care of both of those candles before Charlene could get the cake set down in front of him.  I was very impressed... Here are some pics from the festivities.

Those things were hysterical...

Eyeballin' those candles.  He was ready...

No utensils needed to shove in the ice cream and cake.

Eli had fun at the party too.

His extremely talented mama made him some awesome cookies and a cake.

There are some more pics from the party in the January 2010 album.  Beau's been wondering when his next birthday is going to be.  I think he fully appreciated how awesome it is to get presents and a cake on your birthday, but more importantly you get to blow out candles!  Both of my babies are growing up so fast!

Merry Christmas!

By Mike at December 23, 2009 - 22:41

Merry Christmas!  I should probably go ahead and say Happy New Year, because I should just realize that my bockstock posts will only happen about once a month.  Here's the card we sent out this year.  I was pretty proud of it...

Our trip to see Santa was successful.  I thought Beau might be horrified this year, but instead he was just a little nervous.  Eli didn't seem to mind at all...

At work they put me on the party planning committee so I was in charge of decorating the conference room that we hold our party in.  I think I did a fine enough job decorating that I'll never be put on the party planning committee again.  Here's the sweet tree I put up.

Eli has been sleeping more and more nowadays.  We made the hellacious 8 hour drive to Wilburton for Christmas, but then Eli was nice enough to sleep 12 hours that night to help us recover from the trip.  I guess he's trying to be a good boy so Santa brings him lots of presents.  He might be disappointed, because I didn't bother getting him anything since he's not even 3 months old yet.  We did wrap up some old toys so that Beau wouldn't think we only got him presents.  Here's a pic of Eli smiling.  He seems to be growing at insane speeds here lately...

Beau's been on a three day sugar high at the moment.  Today I caught him in the kitchen munching on some puppy chow that he found.  He also discovered that the candy canes hanging on the tree are actually candy, and not just there to look pretty (I had him fooled for a while).  He has also discovered the fun of opening presents, so we'll be lucky if the rest of the presents survive until Christmas.  If Beau finds himself alone with the tree for a few minutes, it could get ugly.  Here he is playing with one of the presents that he opened a little early this year.  I had one of these when I was a kid, and I remember it being pretty awesome.  I failed to remember how friggin loud that toy is though... Beau doesn't need any help being loud.

Here's Beau with his new Jack in the Box.  He renamed Jack to "Mickey", and he likes to "mash" him back into his box.  He's always scared when the music plays, but then he always laughs when he pops out.  That Mickey in the Box is just a scary hilarious toy I guess...

According to the weather, looks like Beau and Eli might see snow for the first time on Christmas Eve.  I doubt it will stick, but maybe we'll be lucky enough that it will all melt and then turn into ice so that we're stuck in one of those nice Oklahoma ice storms that lasts two or three weeks.  That would be good times...
