Nugget bumps and SWINE FLU!

By Mike at September 29, 2009 - 20:00

Beau's had a bad run of luck here lately.  He fell down the other day and bonked his nugget on the door frame really hard.  Check out that goose egg!  It just kept getting bigger and bigger.  I was afraid it was gonna burst or something.  I didn't really know people can get goose eggs like they do on cartoons.  Not good...

It then developed into this gnarly bruise.  Poor guy.

On top of his nugget bump, he's got the swine flu.  I don't know where he got it, but he's been running a pretty bad fever.  Luckily his spirit seems to be up.  He's been playing pretty hard still and staying generally happy during the day.  I'm really hoping that Charlene doesn't get it since she's so close to Eli time, but I would be surprised if we didn't get it with Beau blowing snot all over the place.  We got him on the tamiflu, so I'm hoping that he gets better quick... so sad.

Earlier this month, Beau got to go visit his favorite puppy at Barnes and Noble.

He was pretty blown away at first, but then he really wanted to touch Clifford to make sure he was real.

The countdown is on.  Eli will be here in 10 days.  I think we're ready, but we're really hoping to get rid of all this sickness before Charlene has some major surgery.  Here Beau is testing out Eli's crib to make sure it's good and ready.

Skoo!

By Mike at September 3, 2009 - 21:39

Beau had his first week of school (or "Skoo" as Beau says) this week.  He goes on Tuesday and Thursday from 9-1.  He seems to like it a lot and even thinks it's "aweshome", but he hasn't figured out that he needs to eat at preschool, so he's been starving when Charlene picks him up.  There's just no time to eat when you're busy flirtin' with the ladies...  I think he already has a girlfriend.  I dropped him off today and he ran over and gave Emmy a hug.  I better keep an eye on those two... make sure it doesn't get too serious.

Here Beau is on his first day of "skoo."

Beau has also fallen in love with Elmo.  He tries to sing the Elmo's World song all the time, and first thing when he wakes up in the morning he wants his Elmo book.

Here he is watching the tv a little too close.

Sittin' on the potty is tiring.

I gotta get started on this four day weekend by going to bed early...

Sad sad times.

By Mike at August 27, 2009 - 20:47

It's been sad times since my last post.

I Broke Beau

We were playing the 1-2-3 game with Beau.  The one where each parent grabs an arm and then you count to three and swing.  Well, one time mid swing I felt something weird with Beau's arm.  He started crying right away, so I knew we were in trouble.  I held him for a while to see if it was just a sprain and maybe it would start feeling better, but everytime he tried to move it he would just look at us with super sad eyes and grab his arm.  We took him down to the Dell Children's Hospital, and turns out it was nursemaids elbow (dislocated elbow).  After the doctor quickly popped it back in, he was all better.  It was like somebody turned off a switch.  I'm just extremely grateful that it was that easy of a fix.  That was the last time Beau will get to play the 1-2-3 game...

House is off the market...

... and not because it was sold.  We got an offer, but our net proceeds would have been -$7k if we would've accepted it.  The sad news is that our house doesn't have a chance of appraising any higher than that offer, so we just rejected the offer out right and took the house off the market.  We'll just wait a year and then hopefully the market will turn around so we can finally get the house upgrade we desperately need.  If people in my neighborhood would just stop foreclosing on their homes.  Geez, how am I supposed to sell my house when all the comps are foreclosures??

That's all the sad news I have.  Beau and Charlene/Eli are doing good.  Beau starts preschool on Tuesday.  We went to an open house tonight, and he started crying when we left, so that was good news.  Hopefully he'll remember how awesome that place was when we drop him off on Tuesday.  We're pretty nervous...

Here's a few pics of Beau to make you feel better about the broken elbow and house news...

Beau likes to hide out in the cabinets.

Pineapple juice is delicious...

Is he kicking me, or hurling a shoe at my face?

Work has been kicking my butt this week and I've averaged a little less than five hours of sleep for the past 4 nights, so I'm gonna call it a day and pass out.
